My dad shot his first (and only) elk with a bow like that, then he got a new bow and passed it on to me. I shot my first (and only) elk with it and got a new bow. Then I gave it to my little brother and he shot his first (and only) elk with it, then he too bought a new bow. I have been thinking about using it again because there has to be somthing to it! Its a tank and pretty slow but it will do the trick, good luck and have fun!
Ok thanks for your reply , I went to bass pro shop in concord today and seemed like every bow I picked up was half the weight but they didn have the arrows sights and stabilizer on them as well. bUT i CAN'T COMPLAIN IT WAS FREE ! I got 5 arrows with it with broadheads on them and need to get some field tips but don't know what size to get . Still learning the basics . EASTON GAMEGETTER XX75 2117 . what size do these use ????
not sure, but I will try to find the arrow then tips and compare them right there in the store. Or you can take an arrow in and compare if they dont carry that arrow. The main thing you want to worry about is the wieght. Those look like 125 grain broadheads, but they could be 100 grain. just make sure you use the same grain on your broadheads as you do your field tips.
I shoot an old Hoyt from like 1995 lol its like 42" axle to axle and weighs like 8 pounds! Im getting a really nice bow soon though.. most likely a Mathews Z7 Xtreme!
Love my z7x. You don't need a new fancy bow to kill a deer, plain and simple. Congrats on your first bow! If I were in your shoes (again, have been once) I would take the bow to a good trusted shop. Let them look it over to make sure everything looks good, and most importantly, make sure it fits YOU. Make sure that when you are at your anchor point, your peep is in the right place, or that the draw length is correct... From there, just learn the basics. Over time, you may want to get a cheap sight (extreme RT900) and a cheap rest (apache, please note: I'm not saying apache is cheap junk, just a great rest at an amazing price) and maybe some new carbon arrows... after that, learn the ropes, save up some green, and buy a new bow (Mathews Z7 xtreme).
so far the draw length is good , just got to lower the wieght is like 80 lbs , I need it around 65 to be comfy . and ofcourse get some field tips to practice with . I will take it to gander mountain to lower the weight and inspect the string on it. it looks good might just wax it. Thanks for the tips
Well I backed the adjusters 2 turns and a lot better with just the fingers . still waiting to get a release and I'm sure it will be easier with that .
