I need some advice if I should go with a whisker biscuit or a drop away rest I'm working on setting my new bow up and still needing some other things and not sure which route to go for deer hunting I got a obsession fxl and I picked up a garmin xero a1i this week I had a bear I have been target shooting with for a year now need to set up my hunting bow now that I'm ready to hunt Sent from my SM-N975U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
There is nothing wrong with a WB, especially starting out. First time jitters and you have full containment on your arrow one less thing to go wrong, plus money better spent on other equipment at this point. When do you plan on hunting?
It will probably be in November when I get the time to actually start hunting that's when work starts slowing down I haul oversize loads for the pipeline not getting much time at home yet Sent from my SM-N975U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
But the dovetail arrow rest for my vertical and switched to a whisker biscuit mid way through last season. I just trust a WB more. Less moving parts and quieter. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
A lot of drop away's have decent arrow containment, but they do require you to be aware of how you turn your bow so you don't make noise by clacking the arrow around. I don't think anything can compare to a WB in that regard.
WB are fool proof for the most part. they are quiet. They have worked for many years. Personally, I like a QAD drop away. Containment isn't an issue for me. I tree stand hunt and some ground blind but rarely. Hell I even take the top containment bar off. But, like others have said, the WB will be great for you.
I think everyone should begin with a WB. There is many advantages to a drop away but if you are new to the game you want less variables.
