I am new to archery. I have a Barnett crossbow that I have used for the last 2 seasons. I thinking I am wanting a compound bow. Any suggestins from all you experienced bow hunters in choosing the right bow?
Bows have to fit you...draw length, draw weight, the fit, etc. And then you have to be precise and match your arrows, broadheads, fletchings, etc to your particular bow setup. There's a lot to it to make a sweet shooting bow. Find a pro shop that treats you well and that you can call "yours". They'll point you in the right direction. Good luck!
Yeah there's a pro shop near me & I hear a lot of good feedback about them. I'm definatly going to go by & get with them. I did know that bows comes in different lengths & it needs to fit the person shooting. Thanks
Perfect! Do you know what brands he carries? Most all of the bigger name brands are worth owning these days. Swing back in with questions!
What American said. Try out all the brands and get a feel for what fits YOU best. Do business with a Pro Shop where you feel comfortable asking questions...tons of questions! Listen to their advice, but then do your research. All bow shops are not created equal so be choosy. The right set up makes ALL the difference! Be sure to let us know how it goes!
Go with what feels right to you! Forget the brands and what is most popular. Go to your local archery shop and spend the day down there shooting. Make sure to take breaks in between shooting to rest your shoulders. For a beginner I would always recommend a forgiving bow, and by that I mean something with a brace height of 7" or just under. How tall are you? If you are 6'3", it doesn't make sense to get a 29" axel to axel bow. Get something that fits you, feels good in the hand and is forgiving as you work on technique. Hope this helps, best of luck and welcome to the most addictive "hobby" EVER!
