Hello everyone: I live in Florida and i am new to archery in general. I have been a firearm enthusiast for years but always wanted to get into archery and bow hunting. Well i guess its about time i started and as you can imagine i already have a few questions. I Ordered my first bow and should arrive next week. After hours of research online and reading reviews i went with the PSE Stinger G3. I have not seen anything negative said in any reviews and for the price, it seems to be a solid bow for a beginner. Now this is my first bow ever so i have a couple of questions. The bow is RTS or "ready to shoot" but as i understand it doesn't include a release or any arrows. This is where i need some advice, I wanted some suggestions on a good release for around 20 dollars and also on some arrows that will fit my new bow. I noticed that arrows come in different sizes and i want to make sure i get the right ones. Any help with this as well as any feedback on my new bow will be greatly appreciated.
Well the arrow size would depend on your draw length. What draw length and weight did you order? As far as releases you can try ****s sporting goods. I think thy have some decent beginner ones for cheap. I don't know if they're $20 cheap. Congrats on the new bow though and be careful it is an addicting passion
The pull weight is adjustable from 50 to 70 lbs and the bow will adjust to fit anyone with a draw length ranging from 25-30" and has a 75% let-off. I am 6'1" and 205 Lbs. i measured my wingspan at 74 inches which from what i gathered it means my draw length should be around 29.5 inches. I figured this using a method i saw online that takes the total wingspan and divides it by 2.5. Is this correct????
Welcome to the site and this great sport! I suggest you visit a few local "archery" shops and and find one that is friendly, knowledgeable and has a good reputation for working on bows. Even though you bought a ready to shoot bow it probably needs a little tweeking and if it doesn't after a few hundred arrows it certainly will. They will be able to get you set up with some arrows and can help with releases. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
That makes sense, i will stop by a local shop once i receive my bow. thanks. Anyone here has any feedback on the PSE Stinger 3g???
I'm 6'1" with the same wingspan and I shoot 29.5 so you should be good. And just like jfergus said you should seek seek out other archers in your area. You can pick up a lot of info and knowledge(sometimes too much) from the guys that are always up there
My wingspan is 6'5", and my DL is set at 30". Granted I think mine is a little short for me, but doesn't bother me enough to screw with it (looking to get a new bow sometime soon)
Welcome to the site! You are right about the Stinger being a good bow for a beginner. I have seen lots of positive reviews on them. As was mentioned, you can get set up with just what you need in a local shop. I would also like to add that you probably want to spend more than $20 on a release. The release will stay with you even when you upgrade the bow. Find a good quality release that fits and works for you and buy it. If you buy cheap, you will end up spending more when you upgrade it in a few months. See if your local will let you try a bunch when you have them set up the bow. You'll be glad you did.
welcome and i agree a good achery shop makes all the differance and if you have more than one in a resonable driving distance go to all of them and ask the same questions and just talk to them and pick one you like the best
