How long should it take for a shop to do a string and cable job ? My bow has been at the shop for a week and no word yet. Getting a little antsy. I guess its not that long, but it seems like forever.I called on wednesday and they had the strings,so they're not waiting for that.

It should only take them 5 or 10 minutes once they have the string.

Fitz has it right. If they had the strings then they should have just done it while you waited. Takes 25 minutes TOPS. usually about 10-15 average to do everything right.

Yea that's pretty weird i would start to wonder why it is taking so long. I just ordered new strings and they should be arriving at my door in a day or two and my local archery store said it would only take 10 mins and they would let me shoot arrows through it to stretch them out and them put on the peep and setup my new HHA as well. I would give that place a call if i was you...

Thanks for dumping fuel on my fire LOL. Seriously though, i cant help but wonder if maybe something happened to my bow. Its supposed to be a pretty reputable shop and i'm hopeing they're just real busy or just got the wrong strings.I took it last saturday and they said it would be done wednesday. This pisses me off because they never called or anything. Its new string and cables, peep, and teflon slide.I'm having dreams of them pressing my bow and snapping my limbs or something, but i worry alot too. Can you eff up a bow doing this work ?

Honestly Jeff if you say that there reputable why haven't they called you at all? I'm not trying to get you worked up I promise and switching out strings seems to be a easy job for someone that knows what there doing. Have you had a chance to call them and see what is taking so long. Sorry you need to deal with this that is ridiculous.

I called twice yesterday and got a recording that said they're either closed or to busy to get to the phone. They have saturday hours,so closed for the fourth holiday maybe, who knows. The bow is pretty new still, and have'nt got past that "new toy" phase yet or it wouldnt be a big deal.Wanted flo. green and black string, thats why its there.Believe you me,i'll have some answers tomorrow.Just have to man up and wait i guess.I detail cars for a living, and if i cant have somebodys car ready, they get a phone call.Apples and oranges i know, same princable

So your right they dropped the ball big time on this one and you have every right to wonder where YOUR bow is and what they are doing to it. Hell when i bring my bow in to get its new strings put on I'm sitting there and waiting for it to be finished so i can start to dial it in. Best of luck man ill be checking back on here frequently to see how it all turns out for you. By the way what are you shooting?

Its a Bear Encounter. Not exactly a high end bow,but i'll tell you what, for the money, its a decent bow.Very comfortable, fairly quiet, and plenty fast enough.Didnt have alot of funds at the time, but i'm pretty happy with it so far.Put on a limbsaver string stop, some monkey tails, and with this new string if i ever get it,it should be pretty tight.I was shooting a PSE Fireflite,so this is a big step up.Got it at Lancaster Archery by the way.Great place if you guys were never there.Very helpful, and didnt try to sell me the most expensive bow in the place.I shot the encounter and a pse stinger, both nice bows but the Bear just felt better.Anyway i'll keep you posted. Thanks for listening to my ranting too.My woman is sick of hearing it,so i have to come on here and gripe.

The verdict is that my head is about to explode.Words cant even describe how dissapointed i am with this shop.I thought i was doing a good thing giving a mom and pop store my buisness with the way things are right now.Still no bow.I called monday and was told the cables look good but the guy made the servings too short on the string. The cables LOOK good-WHAT THE HELL.They're either good or theyre not.I had to make contact, they never called. So now i'm thinking that if this "custom" string maker cant make it right the first time, how good is it gonna be when its done.I'm thinking i'm gonna have to take it right to another shop and get vapor trails or something, its a shame. Before this i heard nothing but good things about this shop.Live and learn i guess.Money grows on trees right ? I'm gonna mention names soon. Not sure if thats the right thing to do or not, but i'm pissed.Saturday will be 2 weeks.

That sucks. I have my bow at the shop for new strings as we speak. Putting them on would be quick but was told it would be about 2 weeks before I got it back because the strings had to be ordered. I went with winners choice and with a holiday week filling the order and shipping would take a little longer than normal. Good luck hopefully everything gets worked out for you.
