I just picked a nice used '10 Hoyt Maxxis 31. I want to put a new set of strings on it, but will more than likely need something custom. Due to my short DL (25.5") the bow has z3 cams on it instead of the xtr cams. I was able to get the correct string and cable lengths off of Hoyts website, but I have never had to order new strings for a bow before so I was looking for recommendations. My local archery shop qouted me $160 for new strings installed. I'm not sure if that is a good deal or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
That isnt really a bad price installed depending on what strings. You should expect anywhere between $80 and $160 for new strings depending on what you order plus install. You have tons of options just have to shop around. My next set will be custom from a local shop. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Go to the following site http://ssstrings.com/ You would be better off to call him. Ask for Anthony. Tell him what colors you want and he will mail them to you and you can have your local shop put them on. it will be cheaper. I charge 120.00 that includes install.
Seems like there are tons of companys making strings. Whats the difference between $80 strings and $150 strings? Anything specific I should be looking for while shopping around. Thanks again for the help.
try extreme bow strings top quality any material u want they had mine shipped to me in three day.was very impressed
Long as the builder is using a good material (like bcy 452x), pre-stretchs the string under tension and knows what they are doing, there isn't a ton of difference... Probably the biggest thing is going through someone that you trust and know will take care of you if you have any issues.... Last two strings I bought were fron Park-N-Sons archery in ID... http://parknsonsarchery.com/about-us/ http://parknsonsarchery.com/string-building-sample-colors/ Couldn't have been happier - they were top notch and they have been the best strings I have owned for peep rotation (or lack there of)... The shop I brought them into made a comment how nice the string was and one of the other bow techs made a comment that they were Winner's Choice (course they weren't)...
