So i just had a new string and cables put on my bow. I got winners choice which i hear are great strings. Now for whatever reason,my bow seems louder. Its a Bear Encounter,so its not whisper quiet to start with, but not super loud either.I'm kinda bummed out because i thought it would be quieter, not louder.I did away with the tube peep and got a meta peep to get rid of the rubber slap on the shot.Basically it shoots accurately, but just sounds different. What can i look for as far as a good string install,or does everything need to break in.Could it be that because i changed peeps and got rid of the rubber slap that it just sounds different. Its got string leeches so what else can i do.

You can increase your arrow weight. That can help a lot.

Bruce is exactly correct. The best thing for noise though is a good sting stop. That bow does't come stock with one abut not sure if you have one or not. If you don't then it is a worth while investment. Good luck and good shooting!

same thing happened with my bow when i put WC strings on. i put on a string stop, limbsaver products, and then some monkey tails and now my bow is pretty much silent.

The WC strings are top notch but as with most top end strings, they are pre stretched, which takes some of the elasticity out of the strings, coupled with being a low creep material to begin with, you may experience an increase in noise and vibration.

String leaches and a string stop should cure your problem. BUT is it really a problem. How loud is it to others around you or is it just something you are hearing?

as bruce said, the heavier the arrow the quieter it will be.

be aware also that many bows might give the shooter the sound of noise but not a person standing next to them, have someone stand a yard and a half away from you to see if they can hear what you hear.

then id just get some good limbsaver or bowjax products and replace out the string leeches for cat whiskers, hope that helps

I was reading this thread and had a question that I couldn't find in the search the other day. I remember hearing that limbsaver/bowjax-type products that attach to the limb will decrease arrow speed. Is this true?

Not the ones attached to the limb. The ones that attach to the strings will cost a couple fps at most.

tfox is right, any added string weight will cost fps, unless its positioned properly and set up like speed nocks which bring the string in quicker and add speed. Its why id move from something like string leeches to cat whiskers
