Went out to the family farm to prepare for a new stand site. This is an area over the years that has really never been hunted. Why? I don't know. I guess maybe because there are so many other good spots on the property we just never hung a stand here. This area is a wooded strip with fields in either side of the strip. The wooded strip is definitely a major travel corridor for the deer. Got t the area cleared out and shooting lanes trimmed. Now just need to get the stand up and start a mineral site and corn and apple piles. Hang a camera and see what is coming through there. I saw plenty of old rubs in the area, a nice big scrape, and a couple major trails going right through it. Here are a couple pics I took of the spot. 20180719_184042.jpg 20180719_184036.jpg

Some people call it work to set up new sites but to me its a passion. I just love to get out and start preparing for the fall hunting season. Looks like a nice spot to ambush a buck.

I love preparing sites and hanging stands. Yes it can be hard work but I love doing it. Getting my grandson involved as well. He enjoys it too.

Try not baiting like the other sites low low pressure in a travel corridor leave no trace.

Right now season is a little over 2 months away. I'm just trying to see what's coming through there. Plus I'm the only person that hunts this so there is very little pressure anyways.

Shawn, I also enjoy hanging stands. After checking cameras it is up there on my favorite list of "chores" to do prior to hunting season.
