I thought the new vital gear one was pretty nice. The new NAP looks good as well.

i just bought the new octane 11.5" piston style. i havent shot it yet, but it balances the bow very nicely when drawn. i cant wait to see how well it works when i finally get a chance to shoot it.

I went from the Limbsaver to Axion 6" and love it. Very well constructed.

Ok, so I have a cheap Limbsaver stabilizer. What kind of difference would a nice Doniker or some other brand make?

The amount of stability that it exudes is determined by the amount of weight and the distance away from the riser, aka the amount of leverage that the weight is capable of making due to distance. likely your limbsaver creates roughly the same "leverage" as most stabs with the same length, however stabilizers also dampen vibration, reducing shock, and sound post release, this would probably be the area of greatest improvement if you stick with a similar weight and length... and some of the new ones look pretty sweet, (if that sort of thing is important to you) the new NAP Apache for example...

That is kind of why I was asking. What I have is obviously working, but maybe it could be better. I was just curious what you get when you spend $100? Does the extra few ounces make a difference? Or maybe putting those ounces out an extra couple of inches???

Just trying to learn. It must help some, otherwise those guys that have six feet of stabilizer at the range are looking pretty ridiculous for no reason

I'm going to do a comparison. with nothing on my bow, then the x-coil, then the apache with only the 5", then the full 8". I'll post the review. now its just a waiting game till it hits the shelves in stores
