    Hi all,

I'm totally new to the bow hunting scene. Seeking advice/opinions on trail cams. We had/have a Remington (don't think it works any longer) something or other but looking to purchase a new cam end of this week. One that can have an external power source or rechargeable battery.

    So suggestions?

    Thanks,
    carol

Buy a Covert you won't need an external power source IMO or rechargable batteries as you will get amazing battery life out of 8 AA batteries. I have one cam that has been out since the second week of June it takes over 2000 pics a week and is on a battery level of 7 out of 10. Plus the picture quality is amazing!

and BTW that is on cheapo dollar store batteries...

Another vote for Covert! I have 10 of them now, and I plan on buying more in the future. I get awesome battery life and good pictures.

Covert is what everyone on here likes. I personally use cuddebacks. Got two. One for $50 and the other as a gift.

I've seen/dealt with many different brands, and for me it's gotta be a Bushnell Trophy Cam hd max. I bought one last year it was a bit pricey, then this year instead of buying the new version I bought last years off eBay for half the price!! Amazing picture quality, and the batteries (8 aa) as long as they're good quality, will last far more than one year!

For a commercial cam I would recommend a Covert Red 40.

I purchased 6 new stealth cams this year. 4 different models. I recommend the Snipers shadow, Unit Ops or Ops X. I would stay away from the Skout 7 (HORRIBLE night pictures) and stay away from the core. Lower quality pictures and below average battery life. I would also Recommend the the Moultrie M-880 (Best Camera I have ever had so far). I don't have a local retailer around that sells Coverts or I would have tried one...

Here is a link for Trail Camera Field test reviews. I find this place to be VERY accurate!

I have some scoutguards that are really nice. They are small and the batteries last forever.

As a review site tcp sells cams co being non-biased is a stretch.

Here is a place for some good reviews/tests results....the forum also has some good info from members using cams that aren't tested by administrators.

I personally like my homebrews best, but the Covert cams work well and their C.S. is great. I like my Spypoints as well(if only they weren't in Canada - shipping costs suck) but I can't say anything about their current cams since I haven't bought any for almost 2 years now.

I've got 14 Bushnells, some new this year and some 1-5 years old, all they ever need is batteries. Bushnell is the way to go.
