It is marked to help with nock tuning arrows. It is very in the weeds, however it helps with arrow grouping and broadhead tuning. If the arrow reacts the same each time it comes off the string it allows for consistent grouping. If the nock is positioned on the arrow the same as the next arrow it allows for consistent groups. Essentially if one were to place the stiff side of the arrow up each time it allows for consistent arrow flight between each arrow as it will react/flex the same as the arrow before.
