Anyone got anything new they are trying this year? I just got done with a morning of scouting with my dad. I just set up a camera on a trail above this large timbered area. The whole timbered area is a large hill, the area where I put the camera it levels out and there are a ton of oak trees with acorns on them. There were also several rubs in the area. It looked like the deer are using this area a little bit now but I think come mid October there should be a good amount of deer passing through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a ladder stand at L and permanent blinds at B The yellow line is where a big hill steps up to the woods The Green scribble is no longer sod field it is all over grown and they dug it to be swamp again (part of the Mississippi watershed project) What I have noticed is the deer will come in ( red line ) sit at the bottom of the hill and slip passed in-between the ladder stand and blind. Took one from the blind with shotgun last year after seeing many go by with bow. Put a stand where S is and going to cut them off. Hunting B with bow they don't come in range in time as they slip through at almost last light. Having a stand at s will allow me to have enough time for a shot. Missed the big show last year because he slipped between L and B as I was walking up the hill to leave I saw him standing there in the middle of the open!
Went scouting yesterday with my jeep in a land management area in MO, never hunted it before , well I went down a trail that said multiuser The trail faded out as I drove, then steep down hill, well had to back out, front bumper got caught on a small tree, had to winch out, then almost to the top, cultch burnt up. I winched it around and a buddy pulled me out about 100 feet down, rain came, .....that's scouting. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
really scouting and going after some black bear up here in the Northeast. they have been coming around a lot and been getting a lot of day time movement from them coming off the mountain to feed at my farm land. season opens up the first day of September so excited to put a NAP Doublecross to work in a nice black bear. also, this has helped me get more scouting in for whitetails come October!
