Does anybody have a fast way to get the new smell out of a new pair of rubber boots? I have already cleaned them with baking soda and they still smell.

Time...Trust me, I've tried it all.

I've soaked them in water mixed with baking soda and cover scent/scent eliminator spray, left them outside, buried them in dirt and pine needles, put them in a rubbermaid container with pine needles and a scent wafer....

It just takes time. In my experience, the deer don't really care about the odor, if they're smelling it, at all. With all of the trash that ends up in the woods, and, the smell from near-by roads, farms, homes, businesses, etc, etc; it's not an odor I go out of my way to hide.

Build a small pile of leaves and wood in a safe area where the pile can be set afire. Stand next to the pile while it's burning-down let it roar-your looking for lots of smoke. Smoke the boots in this manner every time you go out with them...the active carbon will start working right away.

The best method i've found (I do this for my decoys as well) is to build a pile of mulch/leaves/pine etc. and bury them. Leave for longer then a day... even a week or so!

Then wear the heck out of them in the spring! By the time fall rolls around you should be good to go!

From all my experience, which isn't a whole lot. The best thing I have found is just wearing them. I where mine alot. Pretty much whenever I am in the woods I try to have them on. By the time falll rolls around you shouldn't have to worry. Like others have said too, it is not a smell that I am very concerned about, especially considering the areas I hunt.

When I got my first pair I too was worried about the smell and tried putting them in leaves and sticks, also burried them in dirt for a few days. Nothing worked better then just wearing them. When I come across mudd and water I just walk right through it. No worries, thats why I love my rubber boots!!!

Clean them good and put them in a Rubber Maid container with Baking Soda. I always strive for as Scent Free as possible.

Any Scent that is stronger than normal will put a deer on alert :)

I agree. I wore a brand new pair of LaCrosse Alpha Burlys to the woods the day I killed my 10 point. He didn't seem to care where I walked. I did, however, spray them down with scent prevent when I got dressed in the field. Just like I do every time I get to my parking spot.
