Great deer. I've been following that story since it was taken. Public land to boot, which for any of my fellow PA guys on here, knows thats no small feat! Congrats to the hunter.

So you mean to tell me in spite of droves of slob crossbow hunters flooding public lands, decimating the deer numbers and destroying the experience for everyone else that someone shot a new state record typical there? Impossible.

Congrats to the lucky hunter. Hell of an accomplishment, regardless of where or how he killed it.

I don't really think he intended this in a degrading sort of way; possibly some confusion there.

Glad to see it was shot with a traditional compound not a crossbow at 80+ yards.

guy from Pittsburgh shot a 185 2/8" in my county this season. getting better as long as we continue to have bad weather during gun season.

A former member on here shot a 163" in my area this year followed by his brother shooting a 153", then a 156 2/8" by another friend off the same mountain in rifle season. All within 15 minutes of each other and myself. PA has big deer, no doubt about it.

I know what you're doing there... I believe Justin is referring to my distaste for the crossbow legalization in PA. I'm guessing there wasn't any crossbow hunters in the area this guy killed that deer..

Either way... Justin... you almost sound as though bowhunting.com/BHOD just landed a big crossbow sponsorship... no? ;-)

I think you're right. I bet Todd is making him hunt with a crossbow next year.

all about the $$$$$! I always got excited about hunting in the Midwest but anymore I'm satisfied hunting here at home. but when the property gets leased up here by outfitters the fun will be over.

I’m SHOCKED they are allowing this to be considered for the record. It was recovered 41 days later IN rifle season.

really? looks like the truth might surface? how does the hunter prove he killed it with a bow? maybe coyotes finished him off?

I would have some questions, surpised this is being considered an archery kill and not a pick up.
