After looking High and Low for over a month, I had a stroke of luck, and located a Yellow Lab mix in the shelter in the county next to ours, I'd been searching a 100 mile radius and found this little guy just 25 miles away. His name is Woody, and to this point in 3 days, it fit him well as he's carrying around little sticks chewing on them, when he's not busy chewing on his big brother or a 20oz pop bottle I half crushed and put the lid back on to make a toy for him. Here's a couple picks of the little guy and one with his BIG BROTHER Jake who is DOWN to 150# now..... :D Being 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/4 each Lab and Saint Bernard, Woody may end up as big as his Big Brother who is 1/2 Lab and 1/2 Golden..... Checking out the kitty.... After he pounced at the kitty..... "Where'd he go???" And Woody 'N Jake chewing on a stick together....
We were gonna name our dog that he's the "replacement" for Woody, but the wife decided he looked more like a "Charlie." But after Charlie saw his first STICK, we realized "Woody" would have been a good name. This little guy is actually chewing on a stick in the pic with his big brother, so it's relatively fitting already.
He is a little stud! Thanks for going out and finding a rescue, I am sure he will be a loving and wonderful addition.
Ironically, I had him in at the Vet office yesterday, and the daughter of our recently deceased vet (a vet over 50yrs.) said the same thing her Dad did..... "That's the biggest damn Lab/Golden mix I've ever seen!!!" I had to laugh because she sounded exactly like her Dad only a couple octaves higher. When I told her that was EXACTLY what her Dad had said, she smiled and said "Well, I suppose that puts me in GOOD COMPANY then don't it." What's amazing about the BIG dog is that he is VERY solid at 150#, he was FAT at 170#, but if EXTREMELY solid at 150#, and they both said that he HONESTLY didn't look like he needed to lose weight even. And in all honesty, he's as gentle as he is big!!!
