Headed out today to the local public land area I've tried hunting last year and this with no success so far. Only have my doe tag left and my normal spot is Buck Only. Last year, the weather didn't help for late season because the area got flooded and frozen so I couldn't get to this area. Couple days ago, I strapped on the snow shoes and broke the main trail. Today, put them on again and dragged my stand, sticks, bow and warm clothes in on a sled. Took about 45 minutes to walk in through the snow cover. One heck of a workout for my out of shape self. Next trip in will be easier as I get the trail packed better. The spot is a low spot that is frozen over, can see where a deer has broken through the ice probably a day or two ago. The opposite bank is about 15 yards from the tree I setup in, so I can brush a couple openings on the opposite side to give me 20-25yard shot should something walk through. There is another crossing area out of the picture to the left.
