New hunting land for the fall and
Trying to figure out what would be a good place to plant a food plot or plots on this 40 acre property. Excited to get out and scout it within the next few weeks!!![IMG]

I think it's all going to depend on what's already there food source wize obviously a good water source and will have to get a plot in the ground then decide stand placement. The property layout is ideal for wildlife and looks like potential bedding the whole mile back so this ought to be interesting setup.

I need to figure out where the deer are bedding first try to make a effort to pattern using cameras a just getting out there and observing but if I was just guessing where to put one I'd say between the cover and water source the property runs Nth and Sth with the pond being at the north end cover on both sides and at the front south edge of the property lines.

Your right check the trails when you scout, just for fun I like right on that corner diagonal from the water.

I would scout the field edges and where ever the deer are coming out you could plant a plot, or whatever area has the right wind!

Ok so with the agreement what will the landowner allow you to do. I think you have the right idea in finding the bedding areas and where deer are entering the fields. Then you could plant a kill plot there to get them to stop long enough for a shot. Good luck.

Well this past week has been nothing short of great for the upcoming season. I got out last week and finally scouted around the property and it's looking very promising. I have exclusive permission to work cut and plant there so I'm excited about the opportunity. I put a camera out and created a mineral site so I definitely look forward to my first card pull. There is a Creerk that runs the length of the thinner tree line but my guess is that the deer don't bed there primarily although when I was there I did see a young doe run from that side back to the big thicket so that was good to see. I'm sure with time and patience this could be one of my best properties to hunt but I gotta put some work in. It's really grown up in there even inside the tree lines.
