Suggestions, likes, dislikes....going with a smartphone of some sort, just not sure which one. Currently have a blackberry, so about anything would be an upgrade.
I got a Iphone 4 and really can't say a bad thing about it other than it has no navigation on it. You can buy the app though. Great cell I highly recommend it.
Umm, yes it does? lol Just get an iPhone, and be done with it. You will thank yourself later. Having a Mac and an iPhone has made my life so much easier. Everything does itself for me. Syncs, contact backups to computer, calendars transferred back and forth. I love both of them, and was a HUGE apple detractor for years. Their stuff is overpriced, but in the end may just be worth it.
Answer depends on who your carrier is and if you have 4g in your area. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Apple people are like Matthews people.... If you live in a 4g area, you will be sorry locking into a 2 year plan on a 3g phone....you will find those who say there is little difference...which is like saying poop does not stink either. My 4g speeds best 85% of the speeds people have in their homes, to include fios. I own a blackberry, iPhone, 2 IPads, 2 Droids. The Droid Bionic blows everything else away, hands down, no contest. I am a computer guy by trade so Droids being more open allow me to do things that Apple people never dream of. Now, for the average Joe, when Apple gets 4g, I may change my tune. However, right now, that is like buying a new 3 year old car that was stuck on the lot. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
I do live in a 4G area, my wife has the iPhone, I really can't decide. So I have never used a droid of any type, how are the apps?
The apps are awesome. Best advice I can give, go to the local store, play with them all. You will find the one you like best. If you have a Verizon retail store, the phones there all work, go in and download some apps (free) ones and see..... Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
My wife has the iPhone 4s, I have the Samsung Infuse 4G. Speed is about the same. Same apps. Android has more free apps and is an open system. 4s has Siri and better camera. I like the screen size for my phone. It's huge.
I assume you mean processor speeds, not bandwidth. Yes all the latest phones are about the same speed in CPU, with the new nexus and razor being the fastest (will change soon, as it always will). To me now, with 4g, it is like comparing dialup (3G) to HSI (4g). Here is the deal, from 2010 to 2011, there have been over 150 new phones put out. Apple put out 2 of those 150.....they have good stuff (hence my having an iPad) but they are always just so dang slow to market..... As for Siri, other than being "trendy" is it really that used by people after the fad wears off? The android guys reversed engineered Siri in 8 hours and released a prototype for android called iris (Siri backwards). People are so amazed but fail to get that she is not alive and her responses are programmed responses...even when she says "let me think".... She is not thinking, she is saying what she was programmed to say...but thanks to good marketing, she has boosted apple sales. Also, not sure how effective she will be in the woods hunting..she may even be on the side of PETA Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
My wife uses Siri quite a bit actually. She uses it for reminders. Is it worth the extra money for the iPhone? Eh...I don't know.
I don't have a smart phone any more due to having to cut back spending in some places and that was just a luxury in my eyes. I will have one again. I went from a Blackberry to a Droid. I loved it. I really liked how many apps there were. My wife went from a Droid to an Iphone 4. She loved it. I think it is like a bow. Go try them out. Personally, I think I would get the I-phone and will when I am able to have one again.
I'm up for a new phone next month and have been weighing my options heavily. Having had a Droid-based phone (HTC Incredible) going on 2 years now, I'm only half sold on the Android OS. I believe it is easy to use and the apps have been increasing steadily over the years, but the stability is quesitonable. My phone had constantly had problems with crashing, locking up, or being very slow/unresponsive. This is particular frustrating when trying to open an email and it takes 30 seconds to a minute. HTC also misconfigured this particular model of phone and I've constantly had drive space issues with my app data. Although it's an HTC-caused issue, it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Battery life is beyond dismal. I have to basically turn off all background apps and run battery and memory managing programs just to squeeze MAYBE 1/2 a day out of it without a recharge. Basically the phone is unusable if I'm away from power for more than a couple of hours. This is unacceptable. I would like to get an iPhone, however not having 4G is pretty disappointing. I really don't want to get locked into a 2 year stint right now and then find out the next gen iPhone will have 4G in 6 months. The amount and diversity of both apps as well as devices for the iPhone is flat out amazing. While there are plenty of Droid apps, there's still a ton more for the iPhone. Additionally, there's quite a few more options for accessories and add-on devices as well. Having a single phone that dominates that much of the marketplace does wonders for the aftermarket. So in conclusion, I'm leaning towards getting an unlocked iPhone 4 until the iPhone 5 is announced. I'm living without 4G for now, so I'm sure I can survive. If the i5 has 4G, then you can sign me up.
So is 4g worth the wait, my wife's iPhone 4 with 3G blows my blackberry out of the water. Which might not be saying much.... I'm really disappointed in myself, I usually know what phone I'm getting and as soon as my contract is up I upgrade. I just went out and looked at the droid razr and its pretty big. Keep the help coming, I appreciate it.
I have a HTC Incredible and I can't really say anything bad about the phone itself but Androids apps suck. Generally it has been my experience that you have to download 3-5 apps that do the same thing to find one that will work for your phone. My friends have an array of Droid phones and their experience is similar to mine especially after some newer phones come out. Also the all touch phones always seem to work better than slider phones. We just bought my girlfriend a 4s and it is a much better phone and the Apps are better. Granted you have to pay for more. They work 99% of the time though. Every now and then a sub par app slips through the crack though. Also the way Apples are formatted their processors do more with what they have. You take 2 of the same processors put Apple os on one and Android on the other and the Apple OS will be faster. I don't have 4g in my area so I can't comment on that. I am waiting on the next iphone though in hopes it has a bigger screen. Some of these Android phones are starting to get too big but I think a 4/4.25" screen is about perfect. Any bigger than that and you can't hardly get you hand around them and they don't hardly fit in a pocket. I will say stay away from Blackberry. Another 2 yrs and that will be a dead technology unless they pull their heads out of their butt and do something drastic.
I have the HTC Evo 4G...pretty cool phone, flashlight, wifi, the gps is spot on, never really trusted one before, but this one works perfect(Navigator)... The phone isn't big but the Otterbox case makes it a bit bigger but I like it, I have big hands! The camera kicks *** as well, takes EXCELLENT pictures! I also switched from a BB, I never looked back!
I have the Samsung droid charge and i love it. It is 4G and I have never had an issue with it at all, Im very picky when it comes to my phones. I was an Iphone user till i got tired of my Iphone needing to be charged by noon everyday so we made the switch to android. My girlfriend and I both started with droid incredible's and she kept hers and now she regrets it. Justin she has had all the same problems that you have listed. I then went to the Motorola Droid X and i wasn't happy with that. my final switch was to the Charge and I'm very happy with it. As with most smart phones battery life isn't what i would like but i have a spare battery that i switch to at about 4 each afternoon. Im a heavy user and to be able to switch batteries is important to me. This is why i went away from Iphone and why I will not get the new Razor because of a built in battery. I have had the Charge for about a little over a year and I have had zero issues.
