This was in an OtterBox at the time. Basically blew that into about 10 pieces. It did "save" the phone.
I as well can get a new phone yearly. Lease it for like 20$ a month Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I'm in the rarity now days. On an Apple 5s. Phone is bought and paid and I'm 8 months now out of contract. I have no ties to any carrier and can go as I please. I don't make any monthly payments on my phone. AT&T sends me a ton of offers now trying to get me to grab a new phone and a $25 a month fee. I refuse. Just hanging in there until this phone kicks the bucket. Paying a super low price and loving it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am in the same situation. I have a 5s with Verizon iut of contract. No way I am leasing a phone. I'll pay cash for a used phone when this one dies. Going three years strong and never made a monthly payment on it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I understand the hatred of monthly payments. But In this situation, you guys aren't doing yourselves any favors. At $20 a month that's $240 a year for the newest phone available. A used iPhone 6 is still going to set you back $300 cash up front. I don't see this as a better trade off. If your phone died today and you went out tomorrow and shelled out $300 cash for a 3 year old phone that may not even last another year. Makes no sense to me. Idk about you guys but most phones these days aren't lasting much longer than 2-4 years. Batteries seem to go on them before anything. So what's the point in paying more money up front for old tech that isn't going to last as long? Not to mention that if you pay attention to the promotional periods you can get new phones for nothing. I traded in my 2 yr old paid off iPhone 6 for my iPhone 7 and got it for free. Zero payments on the new phone. It was a promotion they ran last year when the iPhone 7 came out. Can't see how buying old used phones is a better idea in any way.
No payments or contracts here !! Paid cash for a new IPhone SE a few months ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's amazing to me how many people need to finance a small purchase like a phone. Maybe rethinking needs vs wants is in order if that's the case.

I probably won't do the device payments again with Verizon. This phone was the only one I've done it with because of the sale (it was half off). If the promotion is good enough, it can be worth it, but I'm not paying for a $700 phone, even if it is spread over 24 months at "0%." I'm sticking with ~$300 phones from now on and preferably unlocked.
I have a galaxy s8 and love it. It takes great pictures and video out in the field plus its water resistant so if it rains the phone will be fine. Plenty of battery life to last all day. You missed the point. It's cheaper to "lease" than buy in many instances. And, then they are not stuck with old technology. It has absolutely nothing to do with what people can afford. Lots of people that have millions in the bank lease their mobile equipment. It's simply the way the mobile companies are offering new devices now. Maybe knowing what you are talking about before belittling others would be in order in this case.
I really love my Google Pixel. After the Pixel 2 comes out it should be a cheaper. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
