Had a Turbo 2 for 15 or so months. Drove off with it on the roof of the car on the way to the beach two weeks ago and it's finally glitching out. Hated the phone, so I'm not even filing an insurance claim (which has a $150 deductible anyways). What are you using and how do you like it (not interested interested in moving to Apple). All depends on what you are looking for. whole family had Samsung back a few years, Kids and myself have moved to Iphones, my wife is holding out still with the S7. The IPhones have been cheaper and more bulletproof, than the Samsung's. Samsung's we have had problems with the mini USB charging ports that we haven't had with Iphones. Also more problems with battery life. Can't think of a reason to not look at Iphones.
I'm not 100% up on the latest and greatest but I'm not an Apple fan so they are always off my list. I used to have Samsung's but they began to frustrate me. As of right now, I'm using an LG G5 and have no real complaints about it. They have a newer version, the G6+ but I don't know much about it. Just know that my G5 has been a good phone for the last year.
My wife owns several cellular retail locations so I can upgrade phones a lot and have access to everything. I chose the Galaxy S8 plus and love it. If you don't mind carrying a larger device, its a pretty awesome phone. The camera is an added bonus that takes amazing photos and video.
I'm a slave to iTunes so iPhone it is for me. However if I was ever to break free I would go S8 or Pixel. If you can hold out for the Pixel 2 (likely end of this year) that would be my first option.
I LOVE my galaxy s8+. The battery life is the best I've ever had and I get better service then my friends with any other phone with the same carrier. They changed the charging port which seems to hold up better to bending and such. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
The LG G6 has a pretty amazing camera if youre into that kind of phone. Samsung disappointed me with the Note Edge and its processor speeds so I am waiting for the Google Pixel 2 to come out, and Google is going to have cool phone names like Musky an Walleye lol.
I just can't imagine ever not using an iPhone. I guess as Justin pointed out, over the years I've become a slave to my iTunes Library... and having a Macbook for a laptop makes everything so simple. All my photos sync back and forth between the two without me doing anything. All contacts, messages, etc auto back themselves up should I ever lose my phone. I'm just so used to their OS by now, I feel like anytime I pick up an Android phone it seems like a fake prop from a movie or something. My macbook is 6 years old now, original battery still lasts nearly an entire day. No viruses, hasn't slowed down a bit. Any non apple product I ever owned was bogged down and glutting out within 1.5 years tops. You are a tech guy though, so you probably know way more about how to utilize them than I would. Apple likely doesn't make the best products, but they certainly make the simplest.
iPhone for me. I can't even use the iTunes excuse. I only have like 75 songs. Tried android multiple times with terrible luck. Every other type of phone feels like a cheap play toy compared to a iPhone. Ya iPhone is simple and maybe too locked down for tech geeks but for normal people who need a phone, text, web surfing and apps like FB or Tapatalk for forums, you can't beat the iPhone. Battery life was greatly improved in the iPhone 7. My 6 had some battery issues around its 2 year anniversary but I was due to upgrade anyways. My new 7 will go 2 days on a charge with little to no use and easily all day with heavy use. Apple products just simple "work". No frills no messing around, click and go. No viruses to deal with either. All my buddies with samsungs complain about glitches and viruses and all sorts of other problems while I've had to reboot my iPhone 1 time in a year because it froze up that one time.
Not to turn this into a Mac vs PC debate but when purchasing a computer most people spend a small fraction on a PC of what they spend on a Mac. Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. A $1,500 Macbook BETTER outlast and outperform a $350 bottom of the barrel PC. If you do a more apples to apples comparison with hardware, longevity is about the same. I'm going on almost 2 years with my Surface Pro 4 now and it's running as strong as ever. I expect that to continue for several more years before I look at changing. /back to phone talk now
I have what my kids call an Amish I-phone no music on it and no other apps than what came on the phone. I am the only person in the office that has a Mac. I don't use anything other than apple products it is all about familurarity for me.
LG G2 for me which replaced my old clam shell phone about 3 years ago. It holds a charge all day gives me weather alerts and radar, works as a phone and text. I occasionally use it to take pictures and tell me the time. Other than that it sits in my pocket. My wife has an I-phone 7 and uses it in all sorts of ways.
iPhone for me, paired with my iPad , mac book . and iMac at the home office keeps it all seamless. The OS on apple keeps working till I am ready to replace the device. I have not had the same experience with other OS, all seem to get slowed down and limited life span.
Well the screen is starting to get more bleed and dead lines, but I'm not dropping $600-$700 on a phone. After researching and playing with some in the store, nothing out there really wows me, so I'll just pay the deductible and ride this out for a while. Thanks for the help! After it's ride on the highway. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I have the Galaxy - but S5...had it for three years and still going strong. Dropped out of tree stand, dropped into horse water troughs, kicked across a wood floor, fell into the motor/pully system while mowing and sat there for two hours... - and still going strong. I had to buy a new charger but three years later - still no complaints. Highly recommend Samsung phones. The LifeProof cases are a must have IMO.
Not sure your carrier...but now with mine and Verizon I can basically get a new phone yearly, which is cheaper than the deductible.
