Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and I'm hoping I can get some advice. I recently replaced my 3/16" peep with 1/4" G5 meta peep. I'm now shooting about 6" low at 20 yards. My peep is set about 5.5" above the nock point, same as my old one. I tried moving the peep up, but it just doesn't align properly when I do. Is there another way to correct this without changing my anchor? Anyone know why this would happen in the first place?
The new peep could be heavier, adding weight to the string slows your bow, which changes trajectory. But it shouldn't change it that much. What I think is happening is you are anchoring differently thus changing where your arrows hit.
I fooled with several peeps last year before settling on a 1/4 inch meta peep. A small movement of your peep will have a dramatic affect on shot placement. Since your arrow speed is unaffected by the switch, why not drop your entire sight a hair provided you're comfortable with your anchor point(s)? You might also check to see if you are leaning slightly forward in anticipation of looking through the peep as you draw.
Sounds like your peep is too low you might want to check to see if it is. Here is a link that will show you how it you don't know. http://forums.bowhunting.com/tech-talk/51852-wanna-make-sure-you-shooting-level.html Hutch
id say its an anchoring issue. if your comfortable with your anchor point and your groups are consistently low , just adjust your sight. You should expect some adjusting when you replace just about anything on your bow.
Thanks for the advice guys. I was able to slightly raise the peep and now I'm back on. Turned out to be an easy fix, thankfully.
