Just a opinion I was born in Louisiana Last time we went to New Orleans we had some really good seafood at a hole in the wall not a far drive out of main town if your rental has navigation try out B & J Seafood 3211 Paris Rd, Chalmette you will love the prices and it dont get any more fresh, they are right by the gulf.

And this time of year if you can get a charter, try out some Red Fish or Speck Fishing in the Bay. You can get good Cajun Boudin in Most markets in the outer townships like Metaire ask at your Hotel most will steer you right.

And I'm sure someone will counter me on this but if you want to do something that everyone will ask you if you have. Take a little time and go Have Chicory Coffee and Biengets at Cafe Du monde. in the French Quarter its messy and a hassle but it's one you can mark off the list of saying yes I've done it. and they are Dam Good.
