Anyone hunted Unit 53 in New Mexico or have any info on the area? I just found out I am heading down there for an elk hunt the first week of October. Its near the northern border about 20 miles south of Colorado, just outside of Questa. Though I wish it were a bow hunt, it will be a ML hunt....which I enjoy very much as well.

I was up there 3 years ago on my second honeymoon. I did some hiking up there but saw no elk. From what I remember it was steep and alot of dark timber. That just might have been the ridge I was on.Sorry I could help you out.

I know its pretty steep in the mountains. I also believe we are hunting some private ranches as well.

T/C Encore .50 I've had it since they first came out and I love it. Killed a lot of game with it.
