Hey guys, I've been reading the posts for a week or two and decided to join. I'll give you a little background. I'm an old fart and turn 50 in Dec. I was a bow hunter back in the 80's but joined the Army and let it go, because I didn't have the time to practice and didn't feel comfortable risking wounding a deer, so I went to firearms. Last spring I went on a turkey hunt in Virginia and our host and the guy I was with broke out their bows and I was amazed at the effectiveness of the modern equipment. One of the guys shoots a Bowtech Tomkat and the other a Mathews. I got the itch and ended up getting a Diamond Rock. In no time I could shoot better with the Rock then I ever shot with my old gear.....I had to learn the technique of not canting the bow, using a mechanical release and using sights. Now that I've done that I feel really good about my shooting. I've been in a tree 4 or 5 times this season so far but have not had a deer offer me a shot. I'm going tom. and Thursday again and hope to change that.... I look forward to the comradre of this group. More later, SB
Go get em Southernboy, it only gets better from here. Welcome to the site, I'm fairly new her also. lp
Good to have you! It will be fun to hear about some hunts from the east coast. I'm on the other side of the country but grew up in the midwest and still hunt there every year so it's a blast to hear how everybody is doing this season! Hope the hunting in SC is good for you and look forward to hearing how you do.
