Hi Everyone This is my first post, but been lurking around for quite a little while and have learned a lot so far! I am looking to get a little advice on getting setup on a new property that I have recently gotten permission to hunt on. I am pretty new to bowhunting, so any tips at all would be helpful! The 2 wooded plots are almost all surrounded by corn field. My problem is trying to get into the stand in the morning, as i don't want to bump any deer that are in the field. I can come into the large wooded are right from the road, but these woods are SO thick, that i would probably scare all the deer out of the county before i even got to the stand There is a path on the west side of the large wooded area, that is tall grass (about 3 ft). I used that as my entry route the last morning i hunted so i could get back to the stand quietly (there is a mowed path, hard to see from picture), but i did see some deer beds in there that i dont really want to be tromping around. The east side of the large plot doesnt have any crops, and i get through that area pretty quietly, except it also borders corn fields and is pretty wide open (im sure i screwed up trying to post this picture) I am using a summit viper climbing stand so im pretty versatile where to go, just looking for some advice on where a good spot might be to setup without blowing my cover Thanks!
I'd use the wind when going in and out, walk so the wind blows your scent away from where you think the deer will be. You will learn more from just being out there and making mistakes but playing the wind is a good start Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the deer are hitting the corn, and you know where they are bedding, I would set up on travel routes so you aren't invading the bedroom. And if you set up on the edge of the field, it should be pretty easy to sneak in without spoiling deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
