Greetings, all. I am an absolute newbie, entering into this sport of archery/bowhunting at the age of 42, at the vehement behest of my 9 year old son. I always thought I'd get him into shooting/hunting with firearms first, but he surprised me with a keen interest in archery. Long story made short, I did a bunch of research on the internet, then sold some firearms, and made a tour of all the local shops within reasonable driving radius. For my fast growing son, I ordered, through a local shop, a Diamond Infinite Edge, selected for it's wide range of adjustability. I had every intention of snagging myself a BowTech Carbon Knight or Experience, but they were sold out that shop, so I'm waiting for them to get a shipment, so I can try these bows before buying. I tried a BowTech Assassin, which seemed very capable. All the bows I tried seemed leagues better than the bows I tried with my brother-in-law, some 10 or 12 years ago. Likely, I will only lurk here, as I have no experience to share, and am here to soak up what I can from all of you. Thanks to all of you here, members and administrators, for providing such a venue, wherein I can study, and hopefully shorten the learning curve somewhat. Tony
Welcome! Where you at in TN? I am from Tullahoma, and my wife from Athens. Army has us in CO right now though.
I'm currently in Oak Ridge, the city of my birth, though I have lived most of my adult life in Knoxville, my second hometown. Soon, I will be moving out to Cookeville, to begin study of Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics), at Tenn Tech U. 2014 is a year of new beginnings for me, and I'm psyched. Thanks, all, for the kind welcome! Tony
Brother, I'm just getting started. I won't begin hunting until I have full confidence in my archery. In the summer, I'll be moving out to Cookeville, and will be there for at least 5 or 6 years, until I complete my Master of Science, at TTU. Will need to find a place to shoot somewhere around Cookeville. When I'm ready, I'll probably be hunting the same woods as you.
