Hello from western Wa. New user on here, not new to bowhunting. Getting ready for quite possibly the most epic elk season ever in Washington. Historically our bow season for elk here has started at the beginning of sept. The rut always got heavy after bow season (15th - end of month). This year season starts on the 12th and runs through the 24th! Last year it was hotter than hell during season and there was a full moon for a week. The elk were doing a lot of their activities at night. This year there will be no moon for almost a week! My main game plan is to take my zodiac inflatable with electric motor across a mile wide lake, stash and chain up the boat, motor and battery (I have camouflaged it) and huff it 2 miles into no mans land where I have found small lakes and ponds on google earth (wallows baby!). I'll be going solo so I've been practicing directing my call sounds beyond where I am sitting. I might even haul one of those picture decoys of a cow in there with me. Anyways I have high hopes for this year and I think my odds are really good all things considered, especially because there won't be a hundred road hunters driving back and forth pushing the elk into the thick stuff. In case anyone is wondering, I shoot a Bear Domain, Trophy Ridge React 5 pin, Gold Tip Velocity shafts tipped w Muzzy 100 gr 3 bladers. Dead nuts on out to 60 yards. Wish me luck
