Need some advice from the experts. I just signed on a new lease in tn. Went with the owner to look at boundaries. He told me before hand it had been logged 6 months ago and the tree tops were left behind. The lease is 300 acres and there only 2 of us deer hunting on it. Just wondering how much this affects the deer (movement, bedding, eating) so forth. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I posted in this forum because I only bow hunt and I would obviously hunt differently with a gun.

Do not know a whole lot about the activity, or sex population on the property although my grandparents own 402 acres and a tornado ripped through the Missouri Arkansas state line which is their property. I noticed the buck activity slowed down but did not really effect the doe population or movement. It changed the times of travel definately but did not completely change the travel. I guess a reason it may not of changed a whole lot for this ocssion because all the water, food and thicket was in the same area. The rest if her property is fields, cattle and fencing... many if years ago before they moved in to this house and steppee a foot on the property it was logged and it definately helped as far as rifle hunting.. I myself bow hunt and found that the deer like the downed trees kinda protects them in my eyes!

I had the same problem last year. The property that I hunt was been logged 2 weeks before season opened (Sep 15th) and went on until about December. I was worried that all my pre season preparation was gone but it was not at all!!! 3 weeks in to the season I killed my number 1 target buck. It shouldn't effect them much at all. Good luck

How hard was it logged? Just the big stuff or was it raped? In my experience, the harder it was logged the more it affects the deer.
