Howdy folks, I have always wanted a bow and after helping a lucky hunter who got drawed for a Kentucky bull elk tag I've decided to go ahead and get myself a bow. My wife and I live smack in the middle of the elk restoration zone in eastern ky. I grew up in this area and know the land well so we pick a few deserving veterans every year and help them take their elk by either showing them where to hunt and helping them with whatever they need. We don't charge a dime and even open our home to some of them since the nearest hotels are 1 hour away. Forums taught me how to build fine furniture and a great deal about skydiving which are my other 2 hobbies so here I am to learn archery.

Hi, I'm from Owensboro, wishing I had a place to elk hunt in Ky. I've been putting in for the elk lottery every year. Hopefully sooner or latter I'll draw a tag. :nana:

Good luck on getting a tag next year. I've paid my money every year since the beginning and no luck yet. My wife managed to get a cow tag a few years ago. We are on the edge of opening a full blown guide service next year. We have been guiding veterans for free the past 3 years to gain some experience. My idea is to find a very large hunk of land to lease and hope the landowner will give it to us as a donation. The idea is to help as many veterans as possible for free and the non veteran customers will be the ones who do pay so we can cover the expenses for lodging and food to give everyone a very memorable experience at elk camp. The cheapest guide around charges $2500 per bull hunter. A few paid customers can pay for alot of veterans to have free hunts. Im not out to turn a profit. I work everyday for that. For me and my wife its about giving back something to those who provide us all with freedom.
If you do manage to get a tag, look me up. Ill show you around and tell you where the elk are. We have had several hunters in the past 3 weeks we have been helping. Bull gun season is in right now until friday and then back to archery season this weekend. Its really alot of fun and we have made alot of really good friends to.
