I work full time as a physical therapist assistant at a rehab hospital in Huntsville, AL. I would not want to leave my job, cause I love the people I work with and with so much going on in the world, having a job that I know I can keep for as long as I want is not worth leaving. That being said, I have a friend that works at a precision Ag company and they are looking for a part time sales man for my area. I would work on commission only, but the opportunity for good money is there. I would think I can take two days a week to shake hands and meet farmers, building relationships until they discuss needs for different things then I'd be able to offer our products to them. Another thought I have is that I don't want to miss out on a big chance for something that could grow into something big. What I'm asking is, are there any of you guys that have a second job that is completely different than your career and how do you manage time with both jobs? Thanks in advance.

Not really, but that sounds like a pretty neat second job.

It all depends on how the "part-time" plays out. Is it 10 hours, or 30?

Precision ag as in just selling it or installing and troubleshooting as well?

Since you would be keeping your current job and this opportunity would be part-time it looks like you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

One thing I will tell you is it normally takes a long time to build relationships to the point where the customers will feel comfortable doing business with you.

Customers you sell to will have questions. Will you be sought for guidance... on their time? That is just something to be careful of that may potentially interfere with your day job. Do you have the free time to do another job or are you busy with family... or busy enough?
