Here are a few of the new regulations that will go into effect August 1st, 2010. These will make a lot of people happy including myself. I don't hunt on Game lands but it will be more opportunities for those who do.

Remove the daily bag limit for deer.

Allow hunters to use archery equipment to harvest deer during the muzzleloading firearms season on game lands.

Shorten the bow season by one week and open the muzzleloader season one week earlier to create a two week muzzleloader season.

Allow bow hunting on Sundays on private lands only, except for migratory game birds.

Allow the use of crossbows anytime bow and arrows are legal weapons.

I never understood why some states don't allow hunting on Sunday's and thank god Wisconsin does not have this rule. Anyone have an idea of the thought process as to why they don't let hunting on Sundays?

A religious thing or giving the deer a day off come to mind as possible reasons.

dude i'm from mt.airy the northwest district i wish we had the season setup that yall do out there on flat land. hell half the time our season is on its way out up here b4 the deer start rutting where the cold weather doesnt come in as early as it used to.if n.c. wants to improve hunting state wide they would extend the season to mid january or early feb. they would institute sunday hunting on private land for all not just bowhunters b/c what you do on your land is your business. they could bring back fall turkey season and give out permit hunts to those who harvest coyotes and other pest like animals they could bring more elk to the mtns. and create a elk season, they could let crossbows be legal and used during archery and firearm season all this would create a surge in local economy and therefore in a state economy that is tanking b/c of high unemployment rates, due to washington idiots that o.k.'d NAFTA & killed a once thriving state! thats the least they could do for us!

I've heard several different arguments but the funniest one is that all the gunfire will interupt church services. lol Those people must not even go to church. When was the last time you went to a church that held a service at daylight? haha I can go hunt, kill a deer, clean it, shower and still have time to eat breakfast before the 11:00 service.

What are gun clubs forced to be closed on Sunday as well? Same argument would apply right?

It's ridiculous.... no wait.... asinine to not allow hunting on Sunday.

Yep. In NC you can buy beer, go to a strip club, or fish on Sunday but no hunting of any kind...well until now.

I live in SC now but I lived in NC for 25+ years so I put up with it for a long time. Now in SC I can shoot whatever weapon I choose on Sunday...but not on game lands.

If PA was open to Sunday hunting, I'd be in the woods till 8:45 then to church by 9:40. Then get a nice evening hunt in. It's not killing me not to hunt on Sunday, it's a good excuse to get other things done and it's probably helping my marriage. :)

What we got was great........................compared to some of the things that were proposed.

we need to put people in raliegh that will vote on our behalf from everyday folks who have families and work by the sweat of our brow and they hunt and fish i'm all for safety and well being but sensibility needs to be accounted for in our state govt. we pay taxes and we should have a say! you cant show everybody else favortism and exclude the folks who pay more to the states pockets and deny them the happiness that you allow others it kind of sounds like a violation of the pursuit of happiness thing if you ask me. i understand that sunday is supposed to be a day of rest but we live in a evolving society and they make laws and change the way things are done to cater to everybody else minorities,inter-racial couples, gays, major corporations, but refuse to hear or consider hunters rights and voices. dont get me wrong i think that everybody has a right to be happy, i just want hunters afforded the same happiness and i think if the auto insurance companies would push the issue of management with us it would get done. how many people are hurt or worse or thier vehicles tore up b/c of over populated areas of wildlife? i know we all know areas around our communities that you have to be up on the wheel at nite on guard so you dont hit a deer.we shouldnt be complacent about "what we got" we should be pushing for our goals and demand equal treatment as one of the biggest income suppliers to n.c.'s state revenue tax sources we create alot of money in our state from the licenses and report cards we buy and the taxes on our hunting equipment we purchase, we keep folks in business and create the need for folks to have jobs and as bad as our unemployment rate is in n.c. thats a blessing!
