Just picked up this new lease in Talledega Al. 200 acres of huge hardwood bottoms, slam full of white oaks! I don't think I'm going to hunt it till next season. I'm going to do some scouting, planting, and stand hanging in the spring.

Good for you. Good luck and show us what a mature Alabama whitetail looks like.

Thanks guys, I will keep y'all updated on improvements and plots, as well as some pictures of the land. It has one really steep bottom with a rock cave on the creek bed at the bottom. Knowing there are bears on the land, I didn't want to go snooping around in it lol. Waking up a hibernating bear wasn't on my to-do list. The land is owned by a wildlife biologist, his grandpa was deeded the land in the 30's and it wasn't hunted but for 3 years during the 90's; hasn't been hunted since. Every where you looked there were huge rubs. I'm pumped to get some cameras on it.

You sure there are oaks in there? Looks like 100% pines that had been clearcut a few years ago.

Yea, the only pines that are in there are over 30 years old. It mostly mature hardwood. I was picking up acorns as big as my thumb
