It's been a while since I've posted on here. I had a pretty tough archery season last year and an even tougher winter. I had a fire that started in the basement (in my beer/deer fridge) of my home in January and destroyed most of my hunting, fishing, and camping equipment including my Heli'm. Fortunately, no one was home at the time, the pets were rescued, and insurance covered almost all of our losses. It was a long spring but my girlfriend and I are finally back to living our normal lives in our new home. Yesterday I strolled into the bow shop to shoot some bows and see what caught my eye. After shooting the HTR I couldn't put it down. I shot several Hoyts and Mathews but the HTR was so incredibly smooth and quiet I ordered one right away. Now the countdown begins and I'm hoping to be able to get out there with it for the last few days of the turkey season. I'll post some pictures when it comes in.

Real life can be very difficult sometimes, and home fires are particularly challenging. Glad everything's okay and good luck with your new house. Congratulations on getting an HTR. It really is a super nice bow. What Hoyt's did you try?

Thanks guys. That's a great shot, Chilly. I shot the Nitrum, the Spider, and the Charger. I just couldn't get over how smooth and dead in the hand the HTR is. I can't wait till it comes it. I forgot how exciting it is to buy a bow.

Rampaige, I liked the Carbon Spyders unique looking riser and the speed of the Nitrum. But after hearing how easy the HTR was to tune and seeing it's exceptional accuracy I was convinced.

They say the tuning is inctedible also, which I'm pumped about. I'm trying to decide what arrows to go with. I've always shot Beman ICS Hunter Pro's but I may consider switching it up.

I was using Beman ICS Hunter Patriots until I tried the Victory VAP.166 Elite V1's. The Victory's are an incredible arrow, super straight and incredibly accurate. I talked to a retailer yesterday at a local pro shop who said he hasn't used anything else for the last three years. Don't listen to others who say micro diameter arrows are a hassle, they're not. Be aware that cutting edge technology costs money. They're a lot less expensive flights out there, but you get what you pay for IMO. Hey man your getting a top-shelf bow, so get the best arrows you can.

They are in fact a hassle. Most outserts can't stand up to impact and will bend. Or you could go with deep six HITs but then you need to go with all new points and broadheads. The .204 ID arrows like axis or gt kinetics have much better insert options and you can use standard broadheads. Sorry to hear about the fire Chris. Glad everyone was ok and congrats on the new bow.

maxpetros, you make a valid point sir. I can only speak from my personal experience with the Victory VAP arrows. I haven't had any problems using the Victory Penetrator 2 inserts and the new aluminium nocks.

I really like the micro diameter but I can't find a good insert solution.

Before deciding to commit to the Victory VAP's I looked at Victory Archery's new products YouTube video from the 2015 ATA show where they demoed the new inserts, and as I said I haven't had any problems, yet.

I will look into the HIT's as I don't have any other field points or broadheads at this time. I'm open to anything right now.
