Lots of Beginner Questions Hello, I am looking to start some archery and have a few questions. 1. The length of my arms from tip-to-tip is 71". So from what i have read, I need to divide that by 2.5. So, 71 divided 2.5 equals 28.4. So what size bow should I look for? 2. Can some explain riser to me? 3. Any recommendations? Thanks
Here's a start. A good read Compound Bow Selection Guide - Archery Help - Hunter's Friend Carbon Arrow University - Basics & Measurement Standards Go to a Pro shop and have them check your draw length. They'll show you how the basics of how to shoot. Then shoot some bows...then go to another shop and shoot some there, Get a feel for them. The bow will pick you. Hope this helps
Cabela's would be the closet thing to a pro shop around here. I dont know if I would trust them to coach me. Most of t hem are just out for a paycheck, that's why i joined here. To talk to people with experience! Plus I'm looking more into recurves and longbows.
MAD, I know there are several traditional bow guys here. There is a forum on here specifically for that on the main page listing the different topic groups, those guys should really be able to help you out. I'd like to get a recurve eventually to learn that style.
