New to the forum and to the sport. Looks like a great forum. Looking at buying a bow and was wondering what brands I should look at? Should I look used first to make sure I enjoy it? I'm a bigger guy at 6'5" and 260#'s. My draw length is 30.5" if that makes a difference. Any and all suggestions/comments appreciated. Thanks guys.
welcome , brand of bow is a personal preference. i'd say go to a local bow shop, and tell them what your lookin for. mabey take someone with you that has some knowledge so you don't just get had by someone trying to sell you the most expensive bow and accessories. you really need to shoot a bow to know if you like it, looks are not relevant. most of the top brands all make great bows now. i shoot a mathews outback and love it, if i ever replace it it will be with another mathews, but that's just me. good luck and have fun
Welcome to the forum and our addiction! As far as bow brand goes, my advice is to shoot as many as possible and then buy the bow that feels best to you.
welcome! i too am a bigger dude 6'4" 280# and had a hard time finding a bow. not sure what you are looking to spend but there are some bows out there for longer draws... i am a 31/32in. i shoot the Mathews switchback LD (long draw) and have had it for about 4 or 5yrs now and still LOVE it! you should be able to find one used with some digging... hit me up if you wanna chat more about them, we can bounce things off each other back and forth
I found a used 2007 PSE Nova S8 bow for sale. It has a 30" draw, 70% letoff and 70# draw weight. I guess this was a Bass Pro shop exclusive and they do not sell it anymore. Looks to be in excellent shape. He is asking $150 with a 3 pin sight, and a couple other accesories. Anyone with opinions on this bow? I was thinking for $150 I can't go wrong for a starter bow and upgrade later if I get into the sport more. What do you think?
Welcome to the site! Not to familiar with that model but my first bow was a PSE and it worked fine to get me started. And it looks like for that price you can't go wrong. Good luck!
