Howdy all, First post around here, so a quick intro first - my name is Rob, and I live down in Northwest Florida. Been a hunter for a long time, and I've always wanted to be a serious archery hunter. After a few years in the military, I have finally gotten myself a rig and put in some serious practice time. I'm not an archery rookie, just a bowhunting rookie. So, I went out today to get my practice in, and I've started to notice a few things. Here's my situation - I'm shooting a parker compound at 60lbs draw, using 3 pins for targeting. Because I'm still feeling out my technique and all, my top pin is set for about 15 yards, depending on who's measuring. So, I go out to shoot today and my first group is a little high, but I put 6 arrows within about a 4 or 5" group, so I was pleased. Then, though, my shooting started to wander up. My groups got out to about 8", but like I said, high. I'm shooting with a wrist/trigger release, and I thought I might be getting too aggressive with how close I was to the string, so I backed my face away from the string a little, and it started to come back on target a little. But, here's the kicker. I shot 3 arrows from my yard mark, high; then I backed up and shot 3 more from another 7 steps or so further back. These were higher than the first ones, shooting off the same pin! Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have a pointer? Also, as a note, there is a lot of noise and vibration to my bow right now. I don't have any noise-dampeners or anything on it at the moment. Thanks! -GH.
Your sight may be loose and sliding down. Check and make sure all fasteners are as tight as they should be. The loose bolts will also rattle like crazy and make a lot of noise.
that or check your peep sight if you are using one that might be sliding up and down. i had that problem
