Hey guys! My name is Santosh. I'm from Michigan, but I spend my fall/winter/spring in North Carolina for school. I'm a huge fisherman (Vito knows) but I've always wanted to get into bowhunting. I've finally decided to dive in (with the help of a few friends of course) and I'm looking for a good used bow. I'm gonna go to a archery shop and get my draw length and everything measured up. I can't wait to buy and start practicing this summer. So now for the question. I'm a righty, but I'm left eye dominant...since i haven't started shooting yet, should I look for a lefty bow? Thanks! GO DUKE! -Santosh
If your left eye dominate and havent shot a bow much, now is the time to start left handed. My father shot right handed for years and then found out he was left eye dominate, then made the switch. Man dont get fancy with your bow just get into a bow that fits well with simple accessories, that you can tune and work on your self. And shoot, shoot, shoot! when you go to the pro shop ask questions, and have them help you get your form right, then just shoot. Good luck bud.
I too am one of those.. but I have a right hand bow. Honestly... I don't believe it would really matter with a modern compound bow. The sight pins are adjusted to whichever eye you close anyway. But.. if you ever plan on taking up trad one day.. I would agree to begin with the left side.
I would see if the shop would let you shoot a left and right handed bow, see whats more comfortable. I'm left-handed but right eye dominant. I can shoot either or, but feel for comfortable with a right handed bow.
