Hi all, I caught the archery bug from a good friend of mine who lent me his compound bow to try out for a while (he hunts traditional recurve now and hasn't shot it in a few years). I shot a bit as a kid helping out on my uncle's horse farm and always enjoyed it, never got to do much hunting with it though. Fast forward now to my early 30s and I finally got around to shooting a bow again and I absolutely love it. Looking to get a good bit of range time and some more training before I try my hand at bowhunting, but I think I'm addicted. New to hunting as well for the most part (my father in law lives in rural WV, and when we go "hunting" it's sitting out on his back porch with his rifle and a case of beer). I've always been big into the outdoors and now with two sons I'd like to give them more opportunities than I had as a kid. My oldest (pre-K) already wants his own bow as well. Just looking to learn more about bowhunting and archery in general and talk with some like-minded folks.
So cool. Glad you're planning to get the family involved, too. From another PA member, welcome aboard!
Welcome! Start em young, my daughters been shootin since she was 3 an loves it! It's better then let em rot their brain with tv shows!
Thanks for all the welcomes gents. I'm hoping once I get some proficiency with the bow I can then pass it off to my two boys. My friend lent me his Jennings Qasar El and it's a great bow, got to do a bit of shooting with it already and hopefully some more this week. Fortunately I work with and go to church with several bowhunting fanatics so they've been giving me plenty of solid advice and encouragement.
