I purchased a new 11/22 Browning gun safe. I had it delivered and professional movers get it into the basement. From there I placed it into position and bolted it to the wall. This is a major improvement from the crappy wood with glass front gun cabinet I had before.

I also put a moisture dehumidifier in to absorb moisture.

I still have my handgun locked in my bedroom closet and ready if needed at a moments notice. So I didn't lose any protection moving the long guns to the basement. This vault is also bolted to the wall. Surefire ready for light.

    Awesome Brad, looks good.

Oh and good call on having someone else move it!

I have a Cannon Safe on order. Got an email that it shipped Friday. Should have it sometime this week. It's being delivered at work so I can unload it with a forklift and bring it home with my friends truck with a lift gate and plenty of help.

Any stairs you have to move it up or down? How big/heavy is it? I can't imagine moving this thing up or down stairs even with a lot of help.

Nope walk in basement. 750 pounder. This friend owns an appliance business. He has the right equipment for the job.

We have two full size safes at home. Excellent investments and well worth the cost for piece of mind they afford us. The first one I moved into our old house with the help of some friends. I learned my lesson. When we were building our new house, I had a larger safe delivered and moved professionally before the basement was even completed.....
Couple of things...get a good fire proof safe, the added cost is worth it in regards to protecting your valuables. Also get a bigger one then you think you need. Their always seems to me be something else you end up putting in it. For example several people on a while back asked about investing in gold or silver, a safe makes it a super easy proposition.
The last thing is locking unit...electronic key pad is super convenient until it doesn't work...then you looking a service call...some safes the lock is covered under a different warrantee then the safe, sometimes a different company altogether....a dial while it take a couple seconds longer is bullet prof.
