As I have gotten more and more interested in photography, my wife has kinda followed along and is really starting to get into it. I shoot a Sony A57, which I really like. We recently bought another A57 for my wife. That way she can be comfortable with the camera and I can quickly and easily show her how to use it.

Yesterday we made a fairly substantial purchase of gear. We ordered a Sigma 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 for landscapes, starscapes and weather photography. We also purchased the Sigma 50-500mm f4.5-6.3 for wildlife photography. I've used the 50-500mm before. We rented it to take on our vacation to Yellowstone and I absolutely loved it. We got some great shots and it's pretty awesome to have a lens that will basically cover the entire range needed for wildlife photography. I'm really looking forward to working with the ultra wide angle 10-200mm. I can see lots of potential for getting some great shots with it.

In addition, I purchased a 3 Legged Thing Brian tripod. I was going to get a Manfrotto 055 series tripod until I stumbled across some Youtube videos of the Brian. It's pretty expensive, but extremely versatile. I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what all it can do.

We will be leaving for a photography vacation first week of August so I will get to put all the new equipment though it's paces. This photography stuff is more expensive than hunting :)

Very expensive, yes. But it lasts as long as you take care of it!

I think my next purchase will be a telescopic lens and a tri-pod.

My aunt rented a lens last year from an online store. They allow you to try it for ten days then return it. She did that before making the jump into purchasing. May be a good idea for those who want to see what it'll do with your model of camera.

Got my new toys Friday. Got to do a little bit of playing so far, but we are leaving for vacation Friday night so I expect to really put them through their paces out in Colorado.

I really like that tripod. Wish I had the funds for one but several camera upgrades before then.
