just pulled my card. 3rd week in a row the 2 good bucks have been absent. Not sure if i should change my game plan or not. I have a hot year round scrape on the edge of the field i KNOW they will start checking once the bachelor groups split up. ehh. what to do what to do!! just rambling out loud

Hmmmm well you know your situation and land best but from what it sounds like I think I would set up close to that scrape for early season. At least maybe get a cam on that to see when they are checking it.

Ya I think I'm gonna do that Remy. My LW double hang is 30 yards off of it right now, right inside my comfort zone. I think I'm going to stick to my original plan for the land and from the far edge of the field on....leave it alone and stay out. let it be a sanctuary. i know the bucks are in there. plus there are acorns everywhere, i think that has alot to do with it. if come end of october and i still dont see a buck, I'll adjust accordingly.

I took the first 2 days of season off from work. Hoping to put some meat in the freezer early.

Used my last pack of Veni steaks the other night. :(

I have 4 pounds of burger left and a big empty freezer!

That's awesome your taking off the opener Remy! When i was still in school, my dad would let me skip school and he would skip work and we'd hunt the morning and afternoon of the opener! I was thinking about it this year, but i'm gonna save it for november!

Yeah I was thinking of saving it for then also but then I realized how little Veni I had left. Haha. That made my decision a pretty easy one. I need to fill the freezer fast.

Welcome Bob!!! do you live/hunt near mansfield? I've seen some big boys over in the mansfield area, driving a truck overnight.

    Thanks you too!!

Maxpetros, I hunt in central western NJ in Warren and Hunterdon Counties, Zone 10 and 8. Mostly in Highbridge and Finesville areas. Have had great success there. We always take does and pass on lots of bucks waiting for bigger ones. Since we don't live in the area we don't always score a buck but there is great potential.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Fall is in the air I'm starting to get the fever. It happens every year around this time. I'm into fishing then all of a sudden I forget about fishing and all I can think of is bow hunting! I have one camera out and if I can I'm going to check it tomorrow.
How's everyone doing with deer ticks? The last couple years I've been using Permathone it works great!

I'm mostly zone 8. I hunt Annandale. Lots of great bucks and tons of does. Have a couple good 8s and 10s that should break 120.
