Hey, y'all. I'm new to bow hunting, and looking to buy my first bow. Any suggestions on a good starter bow? Looked around and found a lot of information on bows that all land in the price range of $400-$700.. I see this being unnecessary for a starter such as myself,,,any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, y'all...
    Justin

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this one so here's mine I like the PSE stinger for a good inexpensive bow, but find a bow shop and talk to someone in person and shoot different bows to see what feels best.

Go to Craigslist and pick up an older bow. Thats a great place to start. Probably be able to pick up a bow thats was top of the line just a few years ago for just a couple hundred bucks. Just be patient check the cities around you everyday and you'll probably find something. Here in the new couple of months as the new models become more and more available a ton of people will start buying new and selling their old.

If your set on a brand new bow the best advice is you head to a couple of pro shops and tell them the price range your looking at. They will be able to show you and possibly, if they have it in stock, let you shoot some bows in your price range. Thats really the best way to go about it especially if you don't really know what your looking for. In the mean time hit up all the manufacturer sights and see what they have to off in that price range. Some to hit are Bear, Bowtech, Diamond, PSE, Mission, and don't forget about Parker. They get overlooked a lot of the time but they make some cool stuff.

As striker said PSE Stinger 3G is a good started bow. As for Craiglist beware

I suggest you shoot as many as you can. But I will suggest the Bowtech Assassin as one to try. I have one and it's a great shooter. The Bear Method, Mission, and PSE Drive are other bows in your price range that seem nice and would be worth shooting.

most Mathews cams run a little long so you may want to check the DL before getting a new cam. I would make sure bow is in spec and cranked all the way up. I use an arrow marked to the berger hole of my current DL (ie your AR31) to compare it to a new bow.
