For the last couple of weekends, the GF and I have been sawing and stacking wood at our new place. I had been using a tiny Stihl 017 which has a 14" bar. It works but it is really a limbing saw. I just got my new Stihl MS361 pro saw with a 20" bar and used it last weekend. Man, does this one have some sac!!
I used it quite a bit and so far it's preformed flawlessly. So far, we have amassed 3 stacks of wood like the one pictured below.

I love to run a chainsaw. Thats the same size bars that are on both of our Stihl (not sure the model though)

I did have a buddy cut his leg with a chainsaw about two weeks ago. 36 stitches and 17 staples........ouch!

Come on up to Mn then!! I've got plenty of wood to cut. You may not like cutting wood anymore when you leave. ;)

I've got a Stihl saw too, one the same size as your 14 Incher. I've also got a 20 Inch Husky. That thing Is an absolute animal!!

Greg, I am very happy for you. You seem to be very happy with the purchase of your new land. I can hear it in your posts....that is fantastic.

    Great saw.........

I've got 3x 017's that I use for limbing, etc.....and they are a great little saw, but not a workhorse for bigger stuff. I've also got a bigger 029 that I swapped over to a 3/8" chain and I'm running a 20" bar on........big chainsaws rock. ;)

I use my saws a lot too. I've got a 14" 48cc for limbing like yours and a 56cc 18" for most work but the one I really like to use is the 76cc 24" saw. Haven't had much that even slowed that chain down LOL. While taking trees out back I have also been making "deer lanes" and have a couple they use regularly. Now all I have to do is get my wife's bow setup and get her practicing for next season :D .

I've had my Husqvarna 16" for about 4-5yrs, now. I bought the one my father in law had and loves. We don't burn wood, here. But, living in the woods, there's ALWAYS something that could be cut. I also end up cutting up deadfalls for neighbors and landowners that allow me to hunt (and those that don't).

I'd LOVE to have one with some more ass. Congrats on your new purchases, Greg.

Cool Greg, I am getting there. I just got a hand me down Stihl 041AV with a 20"bar from my grandfather in law. That gift prevented my from sinking some serious dough into a nice new Stihl along the same lines. This thing is a tank. I have been beating the crap out of a Craftsman 42 cc saw with a 20 inch bar on it, I put a 16" bar on it and after tuning up the Stihl, I will have a nice set for a while.

It's awesome to go from a small saw that don't cut to a big animal that cuts like hot butter. Makes cutting wood fun.

I have an old 025 that runs great, but I'd love to step up a size or two one of these days. I'd like to get a mill attachment too!

I have the Stihl 16" Bar (MS) model. It's a perfect middle size saw (for me)

Nice Greg, I've ran/logged with stihls for 26 years, Dad always ran 'em in the woods. They won't nickle and dime ya to death either like some other brands. That 361saw you just bought should last ya lifetime. I have a saw like your 17 on my quad just in case I need to cut a trail out getting too and from.. As for my big saws for logging/cutting firewood, I run Stihl 066 magnum pros and 046 mags... They flat out get er done! that 066mag is like having a jet in your hands..but definately overkill for what you need, that saw you bought is perfect! nice choice.

I thought you might get a kick out of the last two pix I posted of the big redfir I am felling.. this is what we use for firewood out here, several cord in one tree!

Shed, the 041 I inherited is a beast, I can only imagine what the bigger ones feel like.

Thanks for the comments, Guys. I really like the performance of the saws.

Troy, those are some monster trees you have there and for those you need a monster saw! I doubt I'll ever cut anything that big. I have mainly oaks on my property and I'll be contending with mostly blow downs and over crowded trees. The really big ones I'd like to keep. They look so majestic. I have more than enough to keep me busy.

Yup Greg, exactly, the saws I run would definately be overkill, I bet your just having a blast with your property.. and like I said, that stihl should be and will be GREAT, last you a life time, have fun, keep her sharp its much safer than a dull saw..
