Looks like I will be picking up a new hobby. We just purchased a Sony A57 DSLR camera. We got a 15-55mm lens and also picked up a 70-300mm lens. It was a hard decision, we looked at Canon and Nikon, but just seemed like the Sony had a lot of nice features. It has the capability of taking 10 pictures a second at the full MP, and 12 per second at 8 mps. The other brands could only take 4 a second. Also, the Sony has autofocus during video. Can't wait to figure out how to use it.
Congrats on your purchase. I'm about to pull the trigger on my very first DSLR purchase too. I've been looking and really considering the Canon D60. I'll check out the specs of the Sony.
Okay...just read the specs. Sounds like an awesome camera. Not digging that it has a digital viewfinder though...I hate those. Did you order it online or buy in the store?
I bought it at Nebraska Furniture Mart. As a rookie to this, I guess I'm just used to using a digital display on my point and shoots, so I didn't think too much of it. I'm sure there are drawbacks, but also many positives. You can see all your settings in the viewfinder, as well as a digital level overlayed on the screen. As you adjust the camera, the screen adjusts with it. By having the translucent mirror, it allows the camera to take super fast pictures, to the tune of 10 pictures a second, all w. autofocus at full MP, or 12 at 8mp. One of the reasons we got the camera was to take pictures of our daughter playing softball. She is a pitcher, and are hoping to get some good action shots of her hitting and pitching. So far I'm enjoying it and can't wait to learn how to really use it.
Very nice! Photography is addicting once you really get into it. My only comment would be the autofocus during video - don't trust it or expect too much. DSLR autofocus isn't nearly as good as you'd get on a standard video camera.
Here's a couple pictures I took yesterday out my back door. I'm still trying to learn how to use this camera. These same pictures, but cropped.
That's a smart choice, I also impress with the quality of your camera lens and I think it has also a big video recording storage.
I bought the Nikon 2 years ago for my daughters gymnastics and cheer and my sons wrestling. I was impressed with it until the new models came out soon after. Thats the luck I have with most things I buy. Nice pics. How far away were you from the hawk?
i have a conon t3i its an awesome camera. a dslr is best for pictures but it takes amazing video it looks better than a regular video camera BUT the auto focus will be extremely slow compared. i use it for video but use it on manual its hard at first but gets easier as it goes. good luck and you will be addicted
