Fortunately, there's a lot of good choices out there today for strings... far cry from when most of us got started. Vapor Trail makes a quality string (and has an AWESOME color selector chart at www.vaportrailarchery.com), Winner's Choice and Bucknasty make good strings. I like Octane's proprietary blend of 452GX (the G stands for Gore, which self-lubricates from the inside out) and I know there's other good ones out there too.
There is a guy here in Raleigh that is making a name for himself. Makes alot of strings for tournament shooters. Not a member here, but is well known on AT. He uses 452 for his strings and has about any color combo you can ask for. He just made one for me. My bow is about 12 yrs old so we went with the 8125 material. Great prices and super quick turn-around. If you are interested in his method...pre-stretch etc. just pm me and I'll get back to you. I will use him from now on.
