    Hey All,

Brand new bowhunter here from Wisconsin. To be honest, I'm pretty new to hunting in general as of this year, but I caught the addiction after going turkey hunting this past Spring and got a pretty nice bird. You could say I'm borderline obsessed.

Anyways, I'm looking for any advice my fellow archers might have. This Saturday I'm going to go shoot a few bows and pick out my tool of choice. So far I've been doing a little research and talking to friends about different options. I'm currently stuck between the Prime Centergy and Hoyt Pro Defiant. The Hoyt Carbon Defiants are out of my price range, but you never know...

Looking for any guidance anyone might have, thanks!

Welcome to the club. If the turkey got you obsessed then I would say I hope you get paid well or get a second job. Either way get what you like and can afford. I only say that because hunting gear can add up really fast. Don't get yourself gear broke and then you can't afford to go hunt. Don't get in a hurry or discouraged, have fun and enjoy your new adventures. There is a lot of knowledge on here from a lot of good people. Good luck this season and again welcome .

Welcome to the addiction! My advice would be to not burn yourself out to much with overhunting in the early season. I was new to hunting a few years back and get so excited for season to start, that I put in a lot of hunting time in September and early October. The best time to be out there is late October through Mid-November, so save most of your hunting energy for then! At least, this is my mantra for myself this year...

Welcome to the forum! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the bows you're looking at. If one shoots or feels better in your hands go with that one. If they are equal, get the cheaper one :tu:

Awesome! I just stared 4 years ago and got my first deer last year. Either bow is nice but every brand makes nice bows any more. I have a Bear motive 6 and a Bear venue. I shot lost of bows those ones just seemed to fit to what I was wanting and felt great shooting.

    Just remember
The bow does not make the hunter look good.

But it doesn't hurt if you have a solid looking set-up!

Welcome to the club. You do no need to spend over 1000 to get a good bow for hunting. I would buy a 500-750 bow and put the other 300-500 into stands and maybe a camera.
I am not the greatest hunter; but have had some decent success. This is my advice to someone new.
Simple set up, Decent site window, arrow rest that can handle some bumping, reliable broad heads.
Wait for a good shot. This can be hard but if you are still many times you pass a marginal shot then are presented with great shot.
Reduce your range, shooting a bow at a range is a little different than a stand after being in the cold for 2 hours. Not to mention your emotions.

Deer hunting is full of experts. Listen to people with proven success.

After the shot, remember where you hit the deer, unless you see them crash wait 2 hours. On a marginal shot wait 4-6 hours.
No magic potion, however some tactics do work.
    Good luck.
