    All,

I am looking into getting my first bow. I hunted with my cousin's bow this fall, it was a diamond brand. I am looking at the big 4 (Hoyt, Mathews, PSE and Bowtech), but I have seen a lot of traffic for Bear Archery and Diamond. Can I get some feedback on Bear Archery and how it compares to the big 4?

I have a bear authority 70#. I like it. I shot recurve for years, and I really like the draw cycle of the bear EZ3 cam. And the price was the same as a good recurve. This is the only compound bow I have owned. But I'm very happy with it. The bear attitude has the same cam, but is $100 cheaper.

Not really convinced that there is a "big 4" anymore. As far as I'm concerned, all the bow companies are on the same level these days. They all "borrow" technology from one another, and each has something to offer. That they each offer different models is what is of importance, and you need to find the model that best fits your style and needs.

I have owned and shot many, many brands, and I would compare my Bears (Anarchy and Empire) to any of them, with the exception of Bears "limited" lifetime warranty. Though probably adequate, I feel that the limitations that they impose knock them down a bit on the scale. Having said that, my Empire is the quietest bow that I have ever owned, and probably the most accurate and /or forgiving.

The important thing is to go out and try them all out, and find what fits you the best, and what you shoot the best. Also, don't necessarily let price be your guide.

    Good luck,

    V

I've shot a few Bears in the past and if money is no object I would hands down go with Hoyt. I personally shoot Prime, but I have had several bows over the years and you wont go wrong purchasing a Hoyt bow as being your first. In fact, I think it should be a right of passage. It comes down to personal preference and my advice would be to go down to your local dealership and try them out. Its not about a name, its what suits you and what feels best to you.

Comes down to personal preference. Just shoot as many bows as you possibly can to find out what you like and don't like
