i have recently out grown my bow and was wondering what kind of bow would be a good choice. i had a diamond before and thats kind of what i wanted to stick with but i dont no. any suggestions?
I have the diamond edge..... I like a lot about it I guess. This will be my 3rd year bowhunting. So I still don't no a lot about bows. Do u have any suggestions for me?
the problem is that i dont have any pro shops around me. cabelas is like the big name store but ive heard that it isnt that great. the stores here probably wont let me shoot the bows before buying them. whats a store that i should think about going to?
the closest one to where you are that i know of is gander mountain in bemidji has a pro shop i belive. correct me if im wrong. and one up in warroad. thats a pretty long hike tho. i would just make a day trip out of it and shoot some bows out there and really find what suits you best.
I haven't owned one yet, but I have had one at my disposal to shoot for a while now and I have been thoroughly impressed with the Marquis. What a bow. Of the Diamonds, it's my easy choice, if I wasn't too busy buying Bowtechs.
The Marquis has a twin brother in the Stud for alot less money. If your serious about staying with a Diamond then I'd consider the Iceman or the Stud. If you don't have a proshop around you I might suggest Huntersfriend on the internet. They will set the bow up to your measurements and ship it to you ready to go. It's not the perfect system but would be better than most Gander "pros" or Cabelas "pros".
You should not buy a bow unless you shoot it first. Consider it like a test drive when someone buys a new car. Forget about the names and just shoot them all - you will probably be surprised that you actually have developed a shooting style and have some dislikes, just as importanly as the things you like. Enjoy the shopping, it is the best part of a new bow experience - other than getting it home.
This. Excellent advice. Diamond makes a great bow and is not a bad choice by any means (I'd love a Marquis or Nitrous, myself), but it will be well worth your while to take the time and effort to go try some bows at a competent pro-shop- especially if it's something you plan on keeping for a few years like you have with your Edge.
The best suggestion has already been given. Shoot as many bows as yu can, find one you like that shoots well for you and buy it. After all, your the one thats going to be shooting it, don't get caught up in a brand name!
im gunna make a trip of it and go to a pro shop out of town one of these days. thanks for the advice guys.
If you buy something other than a diamond you'll have to change your name. j/k Actually Gander in Bemidji does have an archery range inside so I'm sure that they'll let you shoot their bows. And Diamond is one of their biggest brands they carry. Their employees might not be experts, but there good enough to get some bows set up so you can test shoot them. The only thing I find fustrating there is that this time of year they don't always have peaple working in the archery section so you may have to ask the people at the front to get someone back there. Good Luck.
