Hello, I am looking at getting a new bow for next season, my problem is I have a 31" draw length, and am having trouble finding a bow that will accomidate this and shoots faster then 18 fps.

i would be more inclined to look for a 30" draw and figure in some release loop and release love.
should be just as comfortable and more doable.
    how tall are you?

I am 6'3". My current bow is set at 30" and the local shop has run out of options for me. For me to comfortabley shoot at 30 I have to bend my arm.

Every manufacturer makes a bow that will go up to 32" draw. I know for Elite it's the Pure. Mathews has the Z9, MR7 and Apex 8. Hoyt has the Carbon Matrix plus, CRX 35, Maxxis 35 and Vantage LTD. Just do a little research and find the model that has a draw that fits you.

Don't fudge things up by getting a draw that's too short and playing with untwisting the string or twisting the cables up or fooling with the string loop. Get a bow that fits you properly and that will shoot as designed at your draw length.

Remember that for every inch of draw you have over 30" you'll gain about 10 fps over the IBO speed.

All that being said, it's possible but you'd have to have some long arms for your height in order to need a 31" draw. The only people (2) I know with a draw that long are 6'5" and 6'6". It's better to shoot a draw that's slightly short rather than one that's slightly long.

Bowtech doesn't, not yet anyhow. The 2010 line up is void of 30.5 plus DL bows as of yet. The Sniper used to be that bow.

I know I looked at the Z9 and the hoyts, the problem is they arnt at the speed I am looking for, and the monster line is way to top heavy for me.

I meant Bowtech doesn't have a 32 inch. You could shoot the Destroyer 340, it goes out to 31.

What speed are you looking for? The extra inch of draw length should get you all the speed you need out of any of the 2011's. For example, at 31" the Elite Pure is putting out 340 fps and it's not even a speed bow.

the maxxis 35 goes out to 31 and is should be around 330 with that.... how much faster you need???

At 31" you're gonna smoke most of the companies bows. The Bowtech's 340, Hoyt's Maxxis, Mathew's Z whatever.

Speed is EXTREMELY over-rated!!! (thus the Hoyt's in my Signature line.....:D) Seriously, when looking at this, consider a couple things. Speed combined with your LONG DL is going to make finding the right arrows a bit more difficult as well. There are MANY set-ups you could get into right now that with a moderately heavy and RIGHT SPINED arrow, you could be shooting easily in the 290's. The difference between 290 and 320 at 30yds is so slight that unless you're a WORLD CLASS archer, you'll NEVER know the difference. Also, factor in the fact that with your LONG DL, you can make a 450 gr arrow zip out of a bow about the same speed a guy with an avg DL would get a 380gr arrow using a comparable weighted set-up, you can get a pretty good performance out of anything over about 310 or so, while also maintaining a pretty good level of "tune-ability!!!" FORGET looking at little short axle speed bows, with your DL, they are NOT going to fit you well, even IF you can find one in your DL, and the string angle for the peep is going to be a pain d/t to that LONG DL. You'd be best served with something in a 35" or longer ata.

I'm in the same boat that you are, and I'm also shopping around for a new bow. I'm 6'4 and have a 31.5" draw. I made the mistake of settling for a 30" with a long loop a few years back and I regret it now. DONT SETTLE, GET A BOW THATS YOUR DRAW! If you do factor in a loop, only give it a half an inch max.

You will definitely gain a decent amount of speed for every inch over IBO standards. Hoyts are notorious for being able to shoot much faster than advertised when tuned right. Carbon Matrix, which I'm very interested in even though i think you pay far too much just to save a few ounces, should throw close to 330 maxed even though IBO says 318. The Maxxis 35 is a good choice, and the CRX 35 is a cheaper version. Also might want to consider a lightly used Alphamax 35.

Wasn't impressed with the Mathews Z9. Brace height was uncomfortably long, and the bow just didnt feel right, but it's all about personal preference.

The Bowtech 340 is a good bow, but they're having some structure issues with the flex-guard, and I don't want to buy a bow that's got a bad reputation.

Two others than I'm interested in are the PSE X-Force Axe 7 and the Strother Infinity. I'm not a huge PSE fan for no particular reason, so I've been putting off shooting one, and I don't have any Strother dealers nearby, so they're on the list based on hear-say.

Good luck in you're search though. I definitely feel your 31" pain! Not many people realize how much of a hassle it is for guys like us to find a bow! Just shoot ever 31"er you can get your hands on and figure out what you like best.

Let's just say that the Destroyer is known locally as the Derailer.

That's not a bad thing, actually. My son's archery instructor shoots that way. He rolls his shoulder forward to lock it in a fixed position and slightly bends his elbow. It's quite stable.

Oh, he also shoots field archery competitions and routinely places in the top two. He doesn't have a long draw length, but he shoots a bow that will fit exactly what you are looking for, even if you stick with a 31" draw length (you must have incredibly long arms to have a DL that long when you're 75" tall!). It will easily meet your other criteria:

The New Breed Archery Cyborg has an IBO of 330fps and can reach 31.5" DL. The guy I mentioned uses it for both competition and hunting.

Due to being on the other end of the DL conundrum (mine is 26.5" - 27" DL depending on whether I use his bent elbow hold), I am saving up for their Nemesis, which was made with short draw archers in mind.
