Hey guys im new to the site and bows. Im looking to get some info on how to maintain the bow. I picked up a PSE surge but its a new model so there is no paperwork that came with it, so I dont know what to keep it maintained and in perfect working condition.

The biggest thing to maintain is the strings and cables. I generally wax mine about every 3-4 shooting sessions depending in how much I shoot. If its an all day event shooting like when me and a couple friends get together, I'll wax it after we are done even if I I just waxed them before I started shooting. My strings last about 14,000-15,000 shots and get replaced once every 12-14 months.

As far as lubricating moving parts goes I usually use Rem oil on the cam bearings only if they need it. I think it's also a good idea anytime I have strings and cables replaced to remove and grease the cam bolts. I didn't do that the last time I replaced the strings and cables and it has a slight creek on the first draw if the bow has say for a week or so.

Other than that its just keep it clean of dust (keep it in a case) and dirt (not letting it touch the ground if I don't have to when shooting and hunting) and keeping it dry. If I hunt in wet weather, I dry off the whole bow and use a hair dryer on the cool setting to blow out water from the bearings on the cams, inside the limb bolts, in and around the limb pockets and bolts and around the accessories. My bow has been through 2 full hunting seasons and a few 3D shoots and still looks brand new.

One more thing. Never leave it in a vehicle during the summer or store it in somewhere hot like a storage building it attic during the summer. This could heat the limbs to the point that it starts to break them down. It could cause as little damage as loosing integrity causing the draw weight to become less to causing them to causing them to explode when drawing.
